When This Is All Over

For 1 year and 3 months, we've been talking about "when this is all over". Some people mean "when lockdown is lifted" but others, like me, don't mean that. Because we know that this will not be over when lockdown lifts. Nothing will return to normal, because the damage is done. I see everyone pinning their hopes on the 21st June, believing the claim that things will just go Back to Normal on that date. Let me see if I can enter the mind of a believer...

On the 21st June, it is written, we shall be risen from the lockdown by our Merciful Lord and Saviour, Boris of Johnson. Most noble, he hath saved us from the dreaded coronavirus such as lowly humankind hath never before born witness to (except NL63, 229E, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV but they are all definitely not relevant and SARS-Cov2 is completely unprecedented, the name is a coincidence). We shall be delivered by his Mercy to our previous state - worry not, ye children, for your classmates self-wounded shall be Healed and your tormented minds shall bear no effect of this suffering once Great Boris frees you (trauma? never heard of her). Livelihoods and dreams shall be restored, thy small business is raised from ashes by the magic money tree (if it giveth not to yours, it deems thee Unworthy and this is your fault). Seekers of Knowledge, learning online these months, the missing knowledge shall be gifted upon your heads overnight. Under his Gift, we shall all receive the lives we had before, undamaged, unchanged, and we are so Grateful that delaying life shall have no impact or repercussions. The truly Faithful shall still cover ourselves after 21st June, to demonstrate our Purity and Goodness, lest our Saviour choose to extend his wrath again. We the lowly deserved his Punishment for our most wicked sins of hugging and singing. How fortunate we are to be freed from it with no consequences at all. 

Wow, she sounds nuts. 

My point is, we won't even be able to begin to recover unless the level of damage is at least confessed. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to fixing it, as they say. 

This might be why we probably won't be released on the 21st June. The next step is recovery and they have realised that achieving recovery will mean admitting what they've done - so they're delaying it, procrastinating out of fear. So I believe that the key is to make everyone aware of what they've done, so that they have nothing to lose and everything to gain by stopping doing it. I remain, of course, open to other suggestions from you wonderful people.

 When someone criticises my articles, the first thing I ask them is "have you read it?". More often than not, they say no. A Stand In The Park

  Both a literal and metaphorical stand, groups from all over England have been convening every Sunday in parks to share thoughts and ideas in defiance of the inhumane restrictions imposed by the Johnson regime.  Our stand, in Chelmsford, began with just four attendees, including myself. 5 weeks on, our numbers are 5 times as many and growing strong. Every week with the mix of first-timers, regulars, and people who come when they can, I get to meet and talk with a variety of amazing people who never fail to brighten my day. Being in a natural space with people who are not afraid of an uncovered smile, who don't treat one another as though we are "unclean" - it's a breath of fresh air in more ways than one.  It is a fundamental part of human life to gather with others. We gather to celebrate, to mourn, to worship, to work, and to simply share our experiences.
